New Journey

Join me on a voyage of discovery and beauty as I start to make my own lampwork glass beads, not all green of course!  I am also making other beads and jewellery and hope to share my experiences.

I started working with beads when I was 14 (a few years ago now!) when I learned how to use a bead loom from my sister who was at that time living in Northern Canada and learned herself from the native people of that area, the Swampy Cree tribe.  Over the years my loom has lain forgotten in a cupboard but earlier this year I bought a nice new one (the old one had been made out of a few pieces of wood by my father).  I stocked up on lovely seed beads and started weaving again.  From there I discovered other forms of jewellery making and because of a very old love of glass and silver decided to learn how to make my own glass beads.  The first lesson was two weeks ago and above is an example of my first attempts!  I still have to work out what to make them into.  I have another lesson booked this month and from there plan to get my own tools to do it at home.
